The authors compare the quality of several varieties of Czechoslovak barley, as well as of the malt produced from evaluate thus their competitivness on world markets. Statistical data confirm that the present structure of varieties grown inCzechoslovakia is quite statisfactory. The steeping and germinating methods can be easily modified to ensure malt meeting all the requirements of foreign breweries. All varieties of Czechoslovak barley can be classified generally as excellent raw material for making high-quality malt.
